Most soft-backed outdoor fabrics use an inexpensive needle-punch polyester, which creates a felt-like soft backing but also collects and holds dirt and contaminants that can cause scratching. WeatherMAX SG uses a flannellike backing. It is less bulky and does not entangle contaminants like a needlepunched polyester. What makes WeatherMAX SG unique is that it brings the high water resistance combined with real breathability for which WeatherMAX 80 is known.
